Liam Bailey My good friend has
moved away to Seattle . . . But keep track of him, there's big things in the
future and you're going to be so hip for having followed him all this time .
. . Seriously, Liam is one gifted singer and songwriter and musician, and
there's nothing to do from here but wish him and Claire the very best.
If you're headed out that way, bookmark his site and look him up at a show,
he'll be around, and tell him I said howdy. |

HOE
is the bluegrass bully band from Fairfield Co. CT, the band that won't die,
the stalwart Bluegrass & Beer hosts with the most, and one of the best shows
you'll ever see. Check out the website, and if you ever have a chance
to see this band in person, no excuses - you must make it happen, you won't
regret it. The 1st CD is definitly a must-have, by the way, and not
just 'cause I'm on it . . . |

Larry Deming You'd think a guy'd
be content to be concertmaster for the Danbury Symphony Orchestra. But
no, this mega-talented string jockey has decided to follow his muse into
olde-timey fiddle, Celtic tunes, and then turn the experience of his Asian
travels into a phenomenal set of songs that invoke the spirits of the east
with the honesty of a western perspective. He's played bluegrass with
HOE, done amazing string arrangements on Marc Berardo's record, and his
recording, Journey To The East, is something you'll listen to time and time
again, and your experience will deepen as though you've traveled Asia
yourself. Don't miss the boat. |

Judd Fuller
I have had the pleasure of sharing a stage with this guy, and if there's a
more natural-born talent, I'd like to meet 'em. Judd is the real deal,
and if you check out his CD, Grocery Store Roses, you will be absolutely
convinced, just as I was when I played bass behind him. By the way,
he's one of the greatest bass players you'll bump into as well. Click
the link, check it out, you'll be real glad you found this out. |

Marc
Douglas Berardo is a singer-songwriter
of rare talent, incredible voice, and amazing spirit. Here's a guy who writes from
the heart - with no apologies, no hesitation - and makes you feel it. I have a great
longing to do some music with Marc, maybe one of these days I'll step into a session or
something. Until that time, do what I do - check the link to his page, and make a
point of checking out a show or a CD. Highly, highly recommended. |

The Liz McNicholl
Band Liz and company
are a group the Hoe fellers came across at a festival date this past summer.
They're really nice folks, and Liz is the real deal when it comes to Irish
Music. Check out her website & you'll see what I mean. Liam
Bailey has sat in occasionally, and I may do the same. No matter,
they're a talented bunch playing fun music, so check them out if you get a
chance. |

Mike Law & the Playboys
Big Mike is a favorite of mine, a singer who belts out real hot blues with
lots of R&B and funk. Not only that, he plays harp, guitar, drums,
just a natural talent and great all-around guy. Check out his website
& see a show sometime. If you do, step up & say hi, you'll find the
big heart behind the talent. |
|
Chris D'Amato, aka
Smokin' Opey is an
amazing talented guitarist who has fronted one of the best &
longest-running blues bands around. His electric blues and slide work
led to some incredible acoustic blues, pick up that record of his, and
lately he's even been seen doing some olde-tymey hot flatpickin' with some
bluegrass folk. Definitely one of the best players around, anywhere. |

Jim Paradis Sometimes known as
1/2 of the acoustic folk-pop supergroup, October Moon, Jim has a solo CD out
that is one of my favorite things of the past year or so. Fantastic
songs, incredible sounds on the thing, and Jimmy sings his heart out.
He's just a fantastic spirit and this record, aided & abetted by Mark
Mirando, is something everybody should have. It's really that good,
believe me. |
|
October Moon is
primarily a brilliant collaboration of two of the most talented writers &
arrangers I know, Mark Mirando and Jim Paradis. They've put out a
couple of CDs of their material, and they are great records; Mark is also a
gifted recording engineer, and their concoctions are always so musical &
surprising, yet the songs feel like music you've always loved hearing.
I know that doesn't do them justice. With talent like Dennis Cote,
Dick Neal, & Gary Burr contributing, you gotta check out the Moon. |

Ryan Hartt & The Blue
Hearts The buzz is right, the Blue Hearts are
tearin' it up! With Ryan up front singing the blues & blowin' the harp, blues
guitarist extraordinaire Eric Ducoff, swingin' drummer Nick
Toscano, and new bassist Jeff "JB" Berg,
you can't go wrong! You don't want to miss an opportunity to see this sophisticated
and greasy mix of sweet Chicago blues and hoppin' West Coast jump - live on stage!
Check out the website for sound samples, news, and the latest dates for the Blue Hearts! |

Anne
Marie Menta I recommend checking out
this website & coming out to see a show. She's a wonderful artist, and person, who I'm
proud to have as a good friend. Along with Armand Morgan, an
extraordinary guitarist and gifted artist, they're a couple of the best people you're
going to meet in your lifetime. I'll leave all the musical accolades for you to read on on
the AMM website. I'm excited to be a part of the newest CD, which just came out in
2004. Both her records will be amongst your favorite recordings. Go to the site & you
can buy them over the 'net. |
| Chris
Berardo & The DesBerardos What can
one say about the premier Folk-Rock Americana Good-Time Boogie-Band of all time?!?
When these guys cook, there ain't no sittin' still. Long heralded for their
road-worthiness & tight performances, the DesBerardos are the best band you're ever
going to drink & party to. Check the website, and note the great press the
records are getting around the whole U. S. of A. Pure Faith is a record of renown, don't
miss it. |

John
Redgate is another of those
singer-songwriter types, but far from the typical. A resident of Bridgeport CT, he's
performed extensively in the area as well as in New York City, and held a long stint at
The Comedy Club in Los Angeles. He has toured as far away as Japan with a Beatles tribute
band performing the role of Paul McCartney. He writes remarkably engaging songs;
stories with humor, touching romantic moments, and slices of life that have you hanging on
for every last verse. John can be found lending bass & harmonies to Anne Marie Menta's
shows. Many of us in the community are excited at the prospect of his own long-awaited
solo recording project, but until then, his live performances are not to be missed. I've
been privileged to perform on a few songs with John, mostly on the upright bass, and it's
always a treat and a special night for me when that happens. He's one of the best! |

vJames
Velvet is a fantastic
fellow, in all the right ways. A stellar songwriter, musical
performer, and fountainhead of the New Haven music scene, I was lucky enough
to play with JV a few times since I came to town, and am better for it.
He's also a most thoughtful and pleasant sort, with a firm grasp of the
important things, like pizza, family, friends, peace, politics, and good
Scotch whisky. I'm proud to know him, and you should swing on over to
his site and find out more about James and his world. It's a great
place to visit. |
